Experts Promote Alcohol Awareness Reporter asks: “What’s going on in the town centre this week?” Trevor Smith answers: “We got some agencies coming down to give out some information and advice to the general public regarding drinking.” “The message is to the public to watch what they are drinking, drink in moderation, just to be aware of the units they are consuming.” Reporter asks: “And what’s the involvement of the fire service?” Trevor Smith answers: “The fire service are bringing down a wrecked car on Friday, they’re going to be situated in the Ironmarket, Newcastle town centre the message is don’t drink and drive and the actual wrecked car shows the consequences of people that drink and drive - what’s likely going to happen to them.” Reporter asks: “What messages are you giving out this week about anti-social behaviour?” Michelle Bailey answers: “Anti-social behaviour is actually a huge problem in the borough therefore a lot of it stems from alcohol misuse we are here today to drive that message and any awareness that can be raised around alcohol misuse.” Reporter asks: “And are you particularly targeting young people or is it across the board?” Michelle Bailey answers: “It is across the board-alcohol misuse affects everyone from all ages, anti-social behaviour does exactly the same so the message is spread worldwide.”
