Tackling Drugs in Town Centre Reporter asks: “Trevor can you tell us what's happening today?” Trevor Smith answers: “Yes certainly, there’s a number of organisations that have come into the town centre to talk to the public about alcohol and drugs. They will also pass on information and answer any questions that a member of the public might need so if they for example need information on units of alcohol and also the different types of drugs and what their effects are on the body then that can be provided.” Reporter asks: “So Phil what do you think are the benefits of this event?” Councillor Phil Maskery answers: “Well the benefits of this display are to raise the awareness in particular amongst the younger people of the damage alcohol and drugs can do to a body that hasn’t been completely formed, that’s still growing people are totally unaware that they are targeted with drink and drugs and they take them being totally unaware of the serious damage that can happen to their body and can in fact shorten their life.”
