Town Centre Juice Bar Opens Reporter asks: “So Trevor why are we here today?” Trevor Smith answers: “We're here to celebrate the launch of the juice bar for young people, the juice bar is held at Russty's café and as you can see we've got quite a few young people in and it's working really really well.” Reporter asks: “Great! Can you tell us a little bit more about the juice bar and what it's all about?” Trevor Smith answers: “Yes sure, the juice bar is a social enterprise and it's been funded by Staffordshire County Council, borough council of Newcastle and also fire and rescue service. Basically the aim of the juice bar is to provide a safe environment for young people to come socialise with their friends drink a range of fresh juices, listen to some music and just relax the point of it really is so that they can come and chill out in a safe environment and serve hanging around the town and not doing much, so that's the point of it.” Reporter asks: “What day will it take place each week?” Trevor Smith answers: “It will take place Wednesday and Friday each week for six months 4pm to 6pm.” Reporter asks: “And will it be by invitation only?” Trevor Smith answers: “It will initially yes, we have got a capacity issue at Russty's cafe, we can probably only fit around 40 and 50 young people in at one time so it's important that we only invite a select few young people at one time to actually come and experience the surroundings.” Reporter asks: “What are the benefits of the juice bar for youngsters and what's been the reaction today?” Trevor Smith answers: “The benefit is that they can hang around with their friends instead of hanging around the town, they can actually access certain information about a range of topics such as alcohol, drugs and sexual health, plus the health angle as well with drinking fresh juices and smoothies so which obviously will be beneficial to their health and makes a change to drinking them instead of coke or lemonade.” Reporter asks: “OK, and what's been the reaction today?” Trevor Smith answers: “The reaction’s been very very positive, all the young people seem to have really enjoyed themselves we've had a few parents in as well and they've seen the environment and they like it very much, so we hope this will grow from strength to strength and they'll come next week, the week after and beyond that.” Reporter asks: “So Jessica do you think the juice bar is a good idea if so why?” Visitor answers: “Yes I think it's a really good idea because it's fruit so everyone's getting their five a day and it's nice to drink something cold rather than having to go to McDonald's or somewhere.” Reporter asks: “OK and have you had a good time today?” Visitor answers: “Yes I've had a really good time met some new people and it's just been good.” Reporter asks: “Will you come back again?” Visitor answers: “Yes definitely.”
