Grants and Loans

  • Grants: The basics – Gov.uk advice on start-up grants
  • North Staffordshire Risk Capital Fund - unsecured loans ranging from £10,000 up to £50,000 for new and existing businesses with real sustainable potential for growth, leading to new jobs and new services for North Staffordshire.
  • If you are aged 18-30, unemployed or working less than 16 hours a week check out the Princes Trust finance and support offer
  • 18-30 year olds can also apply to The Start Up Loans Company which is a government funded initiative that provides start up support in the form of a repayable loan together with a business mentor for entrepreneurs across England and Northern Ireland.
  • The New Enterprise Allowance helps unemployed people who want to start their own business by providing access to financial support – a weekly allowance worth up to £1,274 and a loan of up to £1,000 to help with start-up costs – as well as business mentoring from local entrepreneurs.
  • Disabled jobseekers who want to set up their own business through the New Enterprise Allowance are also eligible for Access to Work funding, which is targeted at young disabled people and people with mental health conditions.
