“Public sector organisations are good customers. They have to be fair, honest and professional in the way they choose suppliers and in any dealings with them”.
Business Link Guide for Small Businesses ‘Tendering for Government Contracts’
Newcastle Borough Council contracts with many companies to provide services, supplies and works that range from a few hundred to many thousands of pounds. The millions of pounds spent each year on procuring goods and services provide companies of all sizes with a range of commercial opportunities.
However, we recognise that, for various reasons, many companies are put off trying to do business with the council. It may be lack of information about the opportunities or a lack of understanding about the contracting procedures of the Council, etc, etc.
This guide is aimed at helping potential contractors, consultants and suppliers tender for contracts with the Borough Council. Whilst it cannot assure you of success in gaining work with the Borough Council, it should provide sufficient information to allow you to submit a good tender.
The Guide is divided into a number of sections. Use the links below or on the side panel to access your area of interest.
In this guide, we have tried to use as little jargon as possible, whilst still fully explaining the Council’s processes. We would really appreciate any comments you wish to make having read the documents; please feel free to complete the feedback form available from this link. This should only take a few minutes of your time and will help the Council to further develop its systems to support you, the provider.
