Whilst the emergency services and other responding agencies will obviously be involved in planning for and responding to emergencies, there are also steps you can take now to ensure you are as prepared as you can be to cope as well as possible with an emergency or major incident. Risk
Many people will be familiar with the concept of Risk from their place of work, with risk assessments firmly embedded into most cultures. One of the duties of Category 1 Responders under the Civil Contingencies Act is to conduct risk assessments on a wider basis, looking at what risks and hazards exist to the community within the context of emergencies. Staffordshire Resilience Forum has produced a Community Risk Register for Staffordshire, and this can be found at Staffordshire Prepared Risk.
