Pest Control Service Updates and News
April 2013
Aspire Housing have agreed that the Borough Council should continue to provide pest control services to Aspire residents for a further three years.
We have reviewed our costs and started to make changes to our service. As a result we are pleased to confirm that our charges for April 2013 to March 2014 remain unchanged.
April 2012
New Charges
We’ve changed our charges to reflect our costs. We continue to treat Rats free in homes, we charge £25 to treat Mice, Cockroaches, or Bedbugs, and £65 to treat Ants, Bees, Fleas or Wasps. Full details of our prices are available on our main pages.
Aspire Housing cease Ant and Flea treatments
Aspire Housing still pay the borough council’s pest control team to provide a range of services for their tenants, however they will no longer pay for either Ant treatments or Fleas treatments. Aspire customers having problems with ants or fleas should see the advice on our main pages.

Pest Control Charges
The Borough Council’s pest control charges will be held at 2011 prices until 1st April 2012. Treatment of Rats remains FREE for residents, whilst Mouse treatments are £20 for up to 3 visits. Treatments for Wasps, Ants and Fleas are from £60. See our main pages for additional details.

Honey Bees Swarms
Several times each year we are called to move a swarm of honey bees. This swarm with several hundred bees was removed from Brampton Park in Newcastle-under-Lyme on Friday 2nd June, with the help of beekeeper Mr Tim Waye.
Bees are important insects, and whenever possible we do not disturb them. Only if it is essential for the safety of residents do we try to relocate them. Details of local beekeepers can be found on our main pages. If you would like your details added to our list please contact us.

If Aspire are unable to help, Newcastle Borough Council will be happy to explain the services we can provide and our current charges.

New Prices, Charges and Services
We’ve revised our prices from 4th January 2011, and changed some of our services.
The Borough Council is required to charge VAT on its pest control services. Accordingly this sum has now increased from 17.5% to 20%.
We’ve replaced our 5-for-3 prepayment scheme, which we’ve operated for the last four years, and which was aimed at our commercial clients with a 3-for-2 alternative. Clients who think they will use our insect control services (wasps, ants, fleas etc) several times over a twelve month period have the option to pre-pay and receive three treatments for the price of two – currently saving £60.
Improving Our Performance
Whilst many of our older information sheets suggest that our response times are up to three working days, we’ve worked hard to speed up our response. In 90% of cases we’re able to visit the next working day. If your call is an emergency we’ll try to visit same day.
