Abandoned cars

Abandoned vehicles are becoming an increasing problem in this area, as well as in the rest of the UK.

Abandoned vehicles are dangerous and anti social.

If you know who an abandoned vehicle belongs to, contact the StreetsceneDivision and inform them, as this may help to speed up the removal of any abandoned vehicle.

Advice about Recycling

Aerosols

These can be recycled in can banks, or through the ‘blue box’ kerbside recycling collections.  Please discard the plastic lids.  Do not try to pierce or squash aerosol containers. Please ensure the aerosol cans are empty before you recycle them.

Aluminium Foil

This can be recycled in the yellow or yellow and black can banks throughout the Borough or put in your blue recycling box for collection on your kerbside recycling collection day.

Appliances

Reuse is a key method of reducing your rubbish. If your item still works safely, you could donate it to the Furniture Mine. Donate it!

Collections are free!

Old household fridges, freezers and appliances such as washing machines can be taken to Leycett Civic Amenity Site for safe disposal FREE of charge.  If you are unsure about where to put it please ask one of the site staff.

A specialist recycling contractor removes the fridges and freezers that the Council collects.

Your local council can collect bulky household items from your home for disposal, however there is a subsidised charge for this service.

Asbestos

Asbestos is a hazardous substance with potentially dangerous health implications.  It must be correctly disposed of by a suitably licensed contractor at a suitably licensed site.
