Disrepair in rented properties


Most landlords act in a responsible way and keep their properties in good condition. However, some landlords do not carry out regular maintenance and repairs that all properties need from time to time. This can cause the property to fall into a state of disrepair. If your home is suffering from disrepair, then the Council’s Environmental Health (Housing) team may be able to help.They have a range of powers and can force a landlord to do certain repairs where there is a serious risk to your health
