Tourism

Newcastle is in an ideal location, right in the heart of the Country and with excellent transport links. Junction 15 of the M6, the A500 and the A50 mean that getting here and then getting around couldn’t be easier.

Once you’re here, Newcastle has plenty of culture, food, leisure activity and entertainment on offer. We have excellent accommodation facilities and several of the Country’s top attractions are easily accessible by car and public transport.

Alton Towers, Drayton Manor Park, Waterworld, Wedgwood Visitor Centre, Shugborough Hall and Tamworth Snowdome are all less than an hour’s drive away.

Closer to home, The New Vic  a unique theatre-in-the-round is on the edge of town, as is the Borough Museum and Art Gallery. Try out some of the restaurants, bars and cafes or take in a blockbuster at the High Street cinema complex.

To the South of the Borough you can explore the newly re-born Trentham Gardens with its hugely popular Monkey Forest, manicured Italian Gardens, ever-expanding Craft Village, magnificent boating lake and wonderful woodland.

For outside leisure activity, Staffordshire’s industrial legacy includes a magnificent canal system, fully restored and playing a new role.  From Tyrley Locks, near Market Drayton, to the Harecastle Tunnel at Kidsgrove, there is a wealth of beautiful countryside to appreciate from this unusual perspective, whether boating, cycling or walking.

Newcastle provides the perfect base to explore the Peak District, Staffordshire Moorlands and Cannock Chase, an official Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
