As you will be aware Newcastle Borough Council are withdrawing services from Chesterton Community Sports Centre from 28th February 2010. After this date, the community use of the facilities will be managed by the school but the Caslte Gym will no longer be avaliable.

The Council would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your custom and hope that you will continue to stay healthy and active by using the Castle Gym facilties at Knutton Recreation Centre, Kidsgrove Sports Centre and Jubilee Pool, Newcaslte.

Facilities

Situated in Castle Street the sports centre offers a diverse range of activities for all ages and ablities.

The 20m x 8m pool is available for public swimming in the evening and at weekends and is also home to local sub-aqua clubs and the junior section of Newcastle Swimming Club. Childrens swimming lessons are available at the pool and cover a range of abilities.

The sports hall houses activities such as 5-a-side football, netball, volleyball, badminton, basketball and cricket.

There are also classes held at the sports centre, these include aqua-fit and spinning, boot camp and circuit training.

Free Swimming

5 to 15-year-olds and people aged 60 and over  will have the opportunity to take part in free swimming sessions in all pools across the Borough, to find out more contact the centres or see below.

Free Adult Swimming Lessons

We are now offering free swimming lessons to adults in conjunction with the swim 4 life campaign. Please contact Wendy Blantford at wendy.blantford@newcastle-staffs.gov.uk or 01782 563716 to book your lesson.

Mondays 4:00pm - 5:00pm and 5:30pm - 6:300pm

Staff Training

We now offer monthly Pool Lifeguard training for qualified pool lifeguards wishing to gain staff training hours to keep their qualification upto date. Please contact any of our centres to find out when the sessions are. Cost is £4.50
