Each year, the Sports Council is given a grant by the Borough Council of £20,000 approx. This funding is then awarded to grant recipients throughout the year and there can be forty plus applicants in any one year. Therefore the maximum grant which may be payable is £1000.
To be eligible clubs/organisations and schools must have a properly constituted Committee of Management and be based within the administrative area of Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council, individuals must reside within the Borough.

PLEASE NOTE: From 1 April, 2015 the format of the Sports Council is changing. It will become the Newcastle-under-Lyme Sports Advisory Council and will play a bigger role in the sporting community. It will no longer issue grants directly but will advise the Borough Council's Grants Assessment Panel (who will be responsible for the future awarding of grants).
A launch event for the new organisation is being held on Thursday 26 March, 2015 at 7pm at a venue to be confirmed. Representatives from local schools, sports clubs and individuals who are resident in the borough are invited along to the event.
The first Annual General Meeting is scheduled for 16 April, 2015 at 7pm (again venue to be confirmed)
