Personal Alcohol Licences

Personal Licence Application Forms

A Personal Licence authorises an individual to supply alcohol, or authorise the supply of alcohol in accordance with a Premise Licence.  The supply authorised by a Personal Licence also includes the sale of alcohol by retail.

There is no longer a requirement to renew a personal licence and, once granted, the licence will remain in force unless surrendered, suspended, revoked or declared forfeited by the courts.

Personal Licences are similar to driving licences in that the licence is portable.  You may supply alcohol at any premise which has a Premise Licence authorising that supply.

To apply you must:-

  • Be over 18 years old
  • Submit a completed application form (the link is below)
  • Submit a Disclosure of Criminal Convictions from Disclosure Scotland.   The applicant is responsible for the payment of the fee. Your disclosure must be under one month old from the date of issue on the certificate. Your application will be rejected if you do not submit a relevant disclosure or if you submit one that is over one month old.
  • Possess and submit the certificate showing you have a licensing qualification or is a person of a prescribed description
  • Submit two photographs of yourself, one of which is endorsed as being a true likeness of yourself
  • Pay the application fee of £37.

If your application is incomplete it will be rejected.
