The Borough Council wants to continue to offer collections of garden waste, because many residents see the service as valuable. That means that the Borough Council has to find a way of making the service financially self-sufficient as the County Council withdraws the funding which has supported the service. We hope residents understand the financial pressures we face, and that by charging for the service, rather than stopping it, we can keep offering a garden waste service. The charge will be £36 per year for a single bin, and £30 for additional ones.
The new service will be fully subscription – there will be no free bins at all. You will need to pay us for every garden waste bin that you want us to empty. The new service will start in February 2019. Collections will be fortnightly throughout the year, with no service break in the winter.
You'll be able to pay your subscription after 10 December, a leaflet with information about the service and subscription will be sent to all households.
Please register your details online to let us know that you are interested in hearing more information about our replacement service. It doesn’t place you under any commitment to sign up and subscribe, it just enables us to keep you in touch with the details about the new fully subscription service.
