Newcastle-under-Lyme is committed to working with our local communities to help support them to manage their future needs and development. In support of this aim we have helped deliver two Neighbourhood Plans and are supporting production of four more in the Borough.

We are now looking for a motivated individual keen to work with local communities in the creation of new, and the review of existing, Neighbourhood Plans. You will be the primary point of contact for communities with the Council and will manage the Council’s involvement.

You will have an RTPI accredited planning qualification and have achieved or be working towards Chartered Membership of the RTPI. You will have good knowledge and understanding of the Neighbourhood Plan process and ideally an up to date knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations relating to Neighbourhood Planning.  You will provide appropriate technical advice, undertake, supervise and support community involvement and consultation with all appropriate stakeholders in relation to Neighbourhood Plans in the Borough. In addition, there could be opportunities to assist with the preparation of the Borough’s Joint Local Plan.

You will have good IT knowledge and experience of working with community groups.  You will be self-motivated and committed to providing a quality service, with a flexible work attitude and the ability to work as part of a team or alone without close supervision.
The ability to converse at ease with members of the public and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for the post.

In return we offer a range of work life balance benefits (including flexible and home working) together with a final salary pension scheme, and professional development opportunities.

If you are a committed and enthusiastic individual, eager to play a key role in influencing the exciting changes ahead in the Borough and North Staffordshire, we would like you to come and work for us.
