Trainee Officer/Planning Officer

Post Ref DD320 – (Permanent, 37 hours) 

Salary £21,589 to £32,029 per annum (Grade 6-9)

You will be either a Trainee Officer or Planning Officer responsible for dealing with pre-planning application enquiries, planning applications, enforcement cases and appeals.

The successful candidate will either have a Royal Town Planning Institute accredited degree or be prepared to undertake, with the Council’s support, such a degree course. If you do not have an RTPI accredited degree you will meet the entry requirements for RTPI accredited courses and as such you will be likely to have a degree or equivalent in Town and Country Planning or a closely related qualification.

Ideally you will be a Student, Associate, Licentiate or Chartered Member of the Royal Town Planning Institute. 

This post will commence on Grade 6 to 9  with progression beyond top of Grade 6 subject to achievement of RTPI accredited degree and Executive Director’s approval,  and beyond top of Grade 7 subject to securing of MRTPI status and Executive Director’s approval.

Planning Officer

Post Ref DD322 – (12 month fixed term contract)

Salary £24,313 to £32,029 per annum (Grade 7-9)

In this role you will act as a case officer and you will make professional recommendations on planning applications and related matters.  You will contribute towards the efficient delivery of the Development Control Service.

Ideally you will be a Student, Associate, Licentiate or Chartered Member of the Royal Town Planning Institute.  You will have experience of development management within a local authority and ideally experience in dealing with appeals and enforcement.

The successful candidate for both posts will have;

  • excellent IT, report writing, presentation, interpersonal and negotiating skills;
  • commitment/enthusiasm and ability to work to strict deadlines;
  • a current valid driving licence and access to a vehicle that is available for work purposes.
