Job Description
Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council in Staffordshire is looking to appoint to the following post in its busy Development Management Section.

Trainee Officer/Planning Officer (Development Management), Post Ref DD320 – (Permanent, 37 hours). Salary £21,589 to £32,029 per annum (Grade 6-9).

You will be either a Trainee Officer or Planning Officer responsible for dealing with pre-planning application enquiries, planning applications, enforcement cases and appeals.

The successful candidate will either have a Royal Town Planning Institute accredited degree or be prepared to undertake, with the Council’s support, such a degree course. If you do not already have an RTPI accredited degree you will meet the entry requirements for RTPI accredited courses and as such you will be likely to have a degree or equivalent in Town and Country Planning or a closely related qualification.

Ideally you will be a Student, Associate, Licentiate or Chartered Member of the Royal Town Planning Institute.

This post will commence on Grade 6 to 9 with progression beyond top of Grade 6 subject to achievement of RTPI accredited degree and Executive Director’s approval, and beyond top of Grade 7 subject to securing of MRTPI status and Executive Director’s approval.
