Knotty 100 Exhibition Opening

Celebrate Newcastle's railway heritage with a special archive film show, costumed performances and book signing to launch the Museum's latest exhibition: Knotty 100. Marking 100 years to the day since the end of the North Staffordshire Railway, this exhibition will be formally opened by ​MP for Newcastle Aron Bell.

The Railways of Newcastle under Lyme: Talk and book signing by Allan Baker

A fascinating talk by railway historian and author Mike Fell OBE.
The talk covers the history of Newcastle station, which closed its doors to passengers on 2 March 1964 , the goods yard which paralleled Water Street and the Pool Dam branch which served the Brook Lane wharf, and the Gas Works in Goose Street. Also covered is the Liverpool Road Halt at Cross Heath and the Apedale branch railway which served the ironworks and collieries owned by the Midland Coal, Coke & Iron Company at Apedale and Holditch Colliery, Chesterton which ceased coal winding July 1989.
