A 'Gruesome' Night at The Museum

LIVE leeches and an array of gruesome surgical instruments feature in a special event guaranteed to chill the blood and tickle the funny bone at Newcastle’s Brampton Museum next month.

‘Medieval Medicine’ is the title of a factual but light-hearted talk by historical author and re-enactor Kevin Goodman on Friday 3 March at 7pm.

Kevin – whose company ‘Bows, Blades & Battles’ specialises in historical and educational presentations – will take a humorous look at pre-NHS methods for bloodletting, drawing of teeth, trepanning, cauterising, amputation, the treatment of battlefield injuries and much more.

And for those who may still have the stomach for it, tea and cake – courtesy of local firm Petals and Bells – is also included in the £12.50 ticket price.

With a maximum of only 54 places available, booking is essential - please visit: www.newcastle-staffs.gov.uk/museum  - or contact the museum on 01782 619705.
