THE work of two Newcastle artists is featured in a special exhibition opening at the borough’s Brampton Museum this weekend (Saturday 1 April).
David Morrall and Nigel Turner are among the prize-winners in this year’s ‘Open Art and Craft’ exhibition, which showcases the talents of 53 different artists from throughout Staffordshire.
Wolstanton-based David has been awarded the Friends of the Museum prize for his artwork, ‘Nude with Cats’, while Nigel, of Clayton, was ‘highly commended’ for his creation, ‘Rose’.
They will receive their prizes during a private viewing at the Museum between 2pm-4pm on Saturday, 1 April; the exhibition – which features works in a variety of styles and mediums – then runs until 4 June.
Visitors to the exhibition will be encouraged to vote for their favourite piece of artwork, with the winning artist being given the opportunity to host a solo exhibition in the Brampton Museum’s Hall Gallery during 2018. The work of last year’s winner, Jean Byatt, is on show in the gallery for the duration of the Open Art and Craft exhibition
