Renew a licence

How much does it cost?

This depends on the rateable value of the premises. Once you have the certificate, there is an annual fee to maintain it.

Check your non-domestic rateable value

You can find and check your business rates valuation on the Gov.UK web site.

Fees

  • Band A - £100 - premises valued up to £4,300
  • Band B - £190 - premises valued between £4,301 and £33,000
  • Band C - £315 - premises valued between £33,001 and £87,000
  • Band D - £450 - premises valued between £87,001 and £125,000
  • Band E - £635 - premises valued over £125,001

Premises with no rateable value

If the premises has no rateable value then it will be classed as Band A.

Premises not yet built or in the process of being built

If the premises has not yet been built or is in the process of being built and you are applying from a plan then it will be classed as Band C.

Large premises

If you are looking to have larger premises which will allow more than 5,000 people on site please contact us at licensing@newcastle-staffs.gov.uk as there are additional fees.

Posting the notice in the local press

There is an additional fee to post the notice in the local press and we have no control over this.

Before applying, please make sure you have read the requirements and that you understand the fees and conditions.

What you will need

The following must be attached:

  • a plan of the premises
  • a copy of the club rules

The licence application must be completed with the Licensing Team to confirm the last date for representations.

You will also need:

  • notice on premises (printed on blue paper keeping font size)
  • notice in the local press (extra cost for this with relevant paper)

If you are renewing an existing licence, please use the same form and complete the renewal sections where applicable.

Please note: there is no need to share an online application with the responsible authorities.

  • all required sections are completed
  • supporting documents are included (if required)
  • the information provided is accurate and up to date

Incomplete applications may take longer to process.

Upload your form and pay

Once you have completed the form, upload it using our online service and make the required payment.

You will need:

  • your completed application form
  • any supporting documents
  • a debit or credit card to pay the application fee
