Due to Covid-19 (coronavirus) this service may be suspended or changed. Please check for details here on our Recycling and Waste homepage. Follow us on Facebook. Search @NewcastleunderLymeRecycles for information on our waste and recycling services
In the event of bad weather, please put out your waste and recycling as normal - we will collect it if it is safe to do so. If we don't collect on your scheduled day, please leave your containers out for a further two days and we will do our best to collect it. If it is still too dangerous to collect, please then return your bins to your property and we will collect any excess waste on your next scheduled collection day.
Why haven't you collected my recycling and rubbish?
The roads may be too dangerous to bring a 20 tonne collection vehicle along, as this could put pedestrians, other vehicles and the collection crews at risk. Even though the roads may appear clear, the footpaths may be too dangerous for the collection crews to collect your recycling and waste. On icy days garden waste often freezes to the inside of the bin, and won’t come out of the bin when we try to empty it. This problem can affect several thousand properties at a time, which is why we may not be able to return.
