Transfer of grave ownership
Do you have to transfer the grave ownership?
It is not necessary for there to be a legal grave owner(s) of an existing grave and a transfer of ownership does not have to take place if there is no one willing to take over the remaining lease of the grave.
Without a grave owner the grave will not be re-opened for any further burials and we will continue to maintain the grave area and make sure that the memorial stays safe.
Without a grave owner, only a memorial vase is allowed on a grave. The ownership will need to be transferred for a full size headstone to be erected on a grave.
