Armed Forces Covenant

The Armed Forces Covenant is the nation’s commitment to our Armed Forces; it recognises the impact of service life on the Armed Forces community and helps to ensure they are treated with fairness and respect.   The Armed Forces community are made up of the UK Armed Forces (both regular and reserve), former members (veterans) and family members including bereaved family members.

The Covenant’s two principles are to:

•    Ensure the Armed Forces community are not disadvantaged, compared to other citizens, in accessing goods or services.

•    Allow for special provision for those that have given the most, such as the injured or bereaved.

We first signed the Covenant in 2012 and reaffirmed our commitment to the Armed Forces community with it being further signed again in 2023 whereby all Staffordshire local authorities and their Leaders joined together to pledge their support.
