The environment in Staffordshire
County level
The councils of Staffordshire came together to achieve collective ambitions in the fight against extreme weather and the loss of the local natural environment. To do this we participate in the county-wide Staffordshire Sustainability Board and The Energy and Environment Group made up of the 9 local authorities in the county. These meetings allow local authorities to work together with their officers at the forefront of making environmental change.
The partnership was created in 2022 to encourage closer working between council leaders and chief executives to reduce Staffordshire's air pollution and care for the local natural environment.
Getting Staffordshire's councils working together, delivering on seven pledges to make the county environmental and a new plan with local communities to help combat extreme weather is key.
The seven climate pledges
These are as follows:
- Powering a sustainable future
- Working together for a sustainable Staffordshire
- Local nature recovery
- Sustainable travel planning
- Communications
- Baseline reporting
- Recycling and residual waste
