About the community fund

All 44 members of Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council have received a dedicated budget of £2,500 per year from 2026/27, as part of the Newcastle-under-Lyme Community Fund. It has been set up to help residents and organisations deliver one-off projects, events and activities that complement our objectives and enhance the well-being of local neighbourhoods across the borough.

The fund intends to support positive actions including, but not limited to, the provision of:

  • Christmas trees, lights and decorations
  • new toys or equipment for playgroups and nurseries
  • outings for older people
  • the renovation of local landmarks
  • contributions towards county council initiatives such as the installation of grit bins
  • supporting a local group for a specific activity
  • repairs or refurbishment of community facilities
  • purchase of street signs or furniture
  • a new park bench or memorial
  • supporting a community event
