Your rights
Under the Local Audit and Accountability Act 2014, local government electors have the right to:
- inspect our accounts and supporting documents
- ask the auditor questions about the accounts
- object to items in the accounts

Notice of public rights
Notice is given under Regulation 15(2)(b) of the Accounts and Audit Regulations 2015 that, from 30 June 2026 to 8 August 2026, any person may inspect and make copies of the Council’s accounts and related documents for the year ended 31 March 2026.
This includes books, deeds, contracts, bills, vouchers and receipts, except where information is exempt under Sections 26(4) – (6) of the Local Audit and Accountability Act 2014 (for example, commercially confidential or personal information).
Requests should be made by email to: section151officer@newcastle-staffs.gov.uk
We will respond electronically where possible.
Questions and objections
During the inspection period:
- electors may ask the auditor questions about the accounts
- electors may submit objections to the auditor under Section 27 of the Act
Objections must be made in writing, stating the facts and grounds, and a copy must be sent to us.
