Natural environment
Our biodiversity duty
We are dedicated to the restoration and conservation of our local natural environment, from the ancient woodlands to the diverse brooks and lakes in the borough.
Through the sustainable environment strategy and delivery plan (SESDP) we have made great strides with all services involved to nurture the local natural environment to grow and thrive, alongside the appreciation of local communities.
Biodiversity duty report
This details our achievements and goals in creating a healthier natural environment in Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough with input from services across our responsibility.
The report will be developed and published by 1 January 2026 with guidance from Gov.UK. After this, the end date of each reporting period will be within 5 years of the end date of the previous reporting period.
We will include the start and end dates of the reporting period in each report.
We will also publish all reports within 12 weeks of the reporting period's end date.
This report relates to action NS13 in the SESDP. The actions outlined in this report are available in the sustainable environment strategy and delivery plan.
