Walleys Quarry inquiry committee
We have established a member-led committee of inquiry to look into the problems impacting local communities from the Walleys Quarry Landfill operation in Newcastle.
The specific lines of inquiry have been determined by Full Council and are as follows:
- What is the impact of the ongoing odour issue?
- What needs to be done next, and by whom, to bring about resolution?
- What, if any, opportunities have been missed to resolve this issue sooner?
The committee will sit to consider the views of and responses to questions from invited organisations.
Members of the public are welcome to attend though numbers will be restricted due to the size of the meeting room. Attendance will be on a first come, first served basis. The inquiry will also be live streamed.
After the inquiry, the committee will prepare a report and recommendations which will subsequently be considered by our Cabinet and Full Council.
Walleys Quarry Committee of Inquiry dates
Date: 14 August 2024
Sessions: 2pm to 5pm.
Location: Castle House, Newcastle Town Centre
The Environment Agency will be in attendance at this session.
