Order your bins or sacks Link to Jadu form
Waste should be contained within your bin so the lid shuts flat. We are unable to empty bins that are overflowing or surrounded by excess waste.
We know, on occasion you may have excess waste that won't fit into the bin and we can collect this for you, provided it is presented correctly. If you want to arrange for more waste to be collected Link to jadu form. Once you have paid you will need to:
- Secure the waste in sacks and make sure the bags are tied.
- Place the sacks neatly to the side or behind your existing bin.
- Make sure the crews have clear access to empty the bin. This will then be refilled with your additional excess waste and recorded as an additional lift.
Please note that you will be charged for all additional lifts.
What happens to my food waste?
We use process called Anaerobic Digestion.
This process uses microorganisms to break down the food waste in sealed tanks. Methane gas is produced which can go into the gas grid or make electricity for the electricity grid via turbines. The process also creates a nutrient-rich material which is used as a fertilizer for growing more food and land regeneration.
[JF1]The top two items are from Cherwell’s list, and I think this will cause confusion with the liner message (which most residents are used to for home, and if we’re providing a liner).
[JF2]This is lifted from Cherwell, so relates to how they handle additional collections for fw. Need to think about whether we’d approach additional collections for fw the same way - probably not.
