ActiveLife: ESCAPE pain rehabilitation programme

AL ref escape pain

ESCAPE pain stands for enabling self-management and coping with arthritic pain through exercise.

ESCAPE pain is a rehabilitation programme that helps people with osteoarthritis (OA) and/or chronic joint pain self-manage their condition.

The programme aims to increase physical function and improve quality of life and is targeted at those suffering from knee or hip osteoarthritis. This runs for a total of 12 weeks but for the first six weeks it will focus on ESCAPE pain classes.

The ESCAPE pain classes are over a six week period, with participants attending for one hour, twice a week. Each session contains around a 20 minute discussion focused on helping to support self-management followed by around 40 minutes of exercise.
