Archaeological remains are not always ancient, or visible above ground. They can range from prehistoric burial mounds, castle remains to industrial sites. You can search Historic England’s national heritage list to see what is near you.
There are currently 13 scheduled ancient monuments in our borough. Any proposed works affecting these need special scheduled monument consent. The Historic England website gives further advice.
Staffordshire County Council's planning service can help with any archaeological issues on planning applications. Also, their curatorial service can produce archaeological work briefs and specifications for planning consent.
