Local government elections 2022

A list of all key dates in the local elections timetable is as follows:

Publication of Notice of Election

Monday 21 March 2022.

This will be available to download on Monday 21 March 2022.

Nominations period commences

Tuesday 22 March 2022.

Please call 01782 742249 or email electreg@newcastle-staffs.gov.uk to make an appointment with the elections team if you are intending to stand as a candidate and wish to:

• pick up a nomination pack

• request an informal check

• submit your papers

Final date for delivery of nomination papers

4pm on Tuesday 5 April 2022.

Nomination papers must be hand-delivered to Castle House, Barracks Road, Newcastle-under-Lyme, ST5 1BL.

Final date for withdrawals of nomination

4pm on Tuesday 5 April 2022.

Withdrawal forms must be received in the office by this date and returned to The Returning Officer, Castle House, Barracks Road, Newcastle-under-Lyme, ST5 1BL.

Final date for appointment of election agents

4pm on Tuesday 5 April 2022.

If applicable, appointment of election agent forms must be received in the office by this date.

Publication of Statement of Persons Nominated

4pm on Wednesday 6 April 2022.

This will be available to download on Wednesday 6 April 2022.

Last day to register to vote for the local election

Midnight on Thursday 14 April 2022.

You can register online to vote.

Last day to register for a postal vote or change or cancel existing postal or proxy vote arrangements

5pm on Tuesday 19 April 2022.

Publication of Notice of Poll and Situation of Polling Stations

Not later than Tuesday 26 April 2022.

This will be available to download by Tuesday 26 April 2022

Last day to receive proxy vote applications

5pm on Tuesday 26 April 2022.

Last day to appoint polling and counting agents

Wednesday 27 April 2022.

First day to issue replacement lost postal ballot papers

Thursday 28 April 2022.

Polling day

7am to 10pm on Thursday 5 May 2022.  

Deadline for emergency proxy vote applications

5pm on Thursday 5 May 2022.
