Universal Credit - how to claim

The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) are currently issuing letters to claimants asking them to migrate to Universal Credit. The letter is called 'Universal Credit migration notice'.

Do not ignore this letter.

You are being asked to make a Universal Credit claim to keep receiving financial support. 

Universal Credit is a Department for Work and Pensions benefit. You can make a claim even if you

  • are working
  • have renewed your tax credits
  • have capital or savings of more than £16,000
