Equality, diversity and inclusion
We want everyone who lives, works or visits Newcastle-under-Lyme to have a fair chance to get involved in society. We see the borough as a place where everyone matters and is treated fairly.
As a council, we are committed to putting people first and delivering services that meet the needs of our communities, businesses and visitors.
Since the Equality Act 2010 came into force we have been committed to ensuring we provide services that meet the different needs of our communities, as well as making sure we are an organisation that is sensitive to the needs of individuals within our workforce.
We want to make the borough a better place to live, work and invest. Our council plan explains how we will deliver our priorities and make sure that we offer fair and inclusive services that improve the lives of our residents.
Equality Act 2010
The Equality Act became law in October 2010. It brought together all of the legal requirements for equality that private, public and voluntary organisations must follow when they work with their employees and the public.
