Climbing

The climbing wall will reopen on 3 December 2020. There are new rules in place for the wall which can be found on our Facebook page.

Due to the closure of the wall all competency tests will need to be re done these must be pre booked with the climbing team, to book please e-mail: climbing@newcastle-staffs.gov.uk. Competency assessments must be completed prior to booking a session. Junior drop-in sessions will start again in January 2021.

If you have any problems logging on or using this system after this time please email J2Fitness@newcastle-staffs.gov.uk and a member of the team will get back to you.

There is a maximum of three people allowed in the wall area at any one time, each session will be up to two hours long.

All chalk can now be used on the Climbing Wall.

Bouldering wall:

The bouldering wall will re-open once we are back open in December 2020, there will be a maximum of two people allowed on the wall at any one time.  Social distancing measures must be adhered to and users must sanitise before and after use.

Family Pods:

Social distancing must be adhered to and all users must sanitise before using the wall.  When the people are not climbing facemasks/coverings must be worn. These will be for a maximum of three people from the same household and they can also use the bouldering wall from pod 1.  We will have three pods on the wall and a maximum of two will be in use at any one time.    Each pod will have a box for people to wait in whilst they are not climbing so that we can maintain distancing.

We will also be allowing adults to bring children with them for any session but they will need a Lyme card and to be booked in as we can still have three people climbing.

Adult Starter Courses:

The adult starter courses will start again in December allowing new people to use the wall.  This will be by one of the instructors on a Tuesday or Thursday evening. Anyone who wants to book a starter course needs to e-mail climbing@newcastle-staffs.gov.uk we will then sort out with them when to come in.

Harness Hire:

Harnesses can be hired but must be returned to reception as these then need to be quarantined for 72 hours.  There will be a box in the reception area each day for this and then we can put the harnesses in the Abseiling Tower for 72 hours.  We have a maximum of 12 harnesses so we will only have limited numbers to hire out each day.

Junior Drop in sessions:

Drop in sessions will be held on a Tuesday and Thursday with a maximum of two children per sessions.  Each session will be for 30 minutes and needs to be pre booked. There will be a maximum of three sessions per day.
