Emerging station enhancements
These potentially include (subject to funding):
- a generous, high-quality, new ticket office and waiting room
- a new cafe with internal and external seating
- secure public cycle storage
- sustainable, robust, efficient building performance
- a new station plaza and pedestrian focused landscaping
- a new bus stop and interchange (subject to agreement)
- a large carpark with disabled bays and EV charging points
- a dedicated taxi rank and passenger pickup/dropoff
- improved community space provision e.g. room for local gardeners
- integration of pedestrian route from tow-path to station plaza
Other potential enhancements
For example:
- a newly refurbished waiting room on platform 2/3
- a new waiting shelter on platform 4
- replacement of fencing with softer canal-side boundary
- careful thinning of existing trees and new tree planting
- improvements to foot and cycle access across the canal into town
- informal play or leisure provision for all
Comments on the proposals
Although the main consultation took place in February 2022 and the business case has been submitted and approved, your comments are still welcome. This particularly applies to the community space and leisure provision.
