Archive and collections enquiries
Our archives and collection objects can be used for research. We hold objects, photographs, books and archives that relate to the history of the borough of Newcastle-under-Lyme.
You can find some of our collection and images online on Staffordshire Past Track. However, most are not online.
Popular items in our collection
These include:
- Burgess records
- old maps and plans
- Pomona Pottery factory, Lower Street
- poor rate books
- council minute books
- objects and items from local shops, industries and business
- old photographs

If you would like us to check our catalogue for something you are looking for please fill in our collections enquiry form.
We will let you know what we find. We will do our best to get back to you as soon as we can, usually within 14 days, but please bear with us if it takes a little longer. If we find something of interest our collections can be viewed in person on selected Fridays and Saturdays 10.30-12.30 (strictly by appointment only).
Please note we do not charge to search the catalogue, any research done on your behalf after the initial enquiry will be charged at £25 per hour.
Research service
If you are not able to visit we offer a research service.
This is charged at £25 per hour. We will give you a time estimate and agree parameters before carrying out any work.
