Wins for Reform UK and Conservatives in Borough Council by-elections

Two seats have been won by Reform UK and the Conservative Party in a double by-election for Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council.

Voting took place yesterday (Thursday, 1 May) for a seat in Knutton, and another in Loggerheads, which had been held by a Labour and Conservative councillor respectively.

Of the 44 seats on the authority, the Conservative Party now has 25 seats and Labour has 17. As well as the council’s first Reform UK member, there is also one independent councillor.

The Knutton ward was won by Lynn Dean with a majority of 158 over the nearest opponent. The votes cast were:

  • DEAN Lynn, Reform UK, 281 votes
  • DICKIN Bayley Keith, Labour, 123 votes
  • SWAIN Finn, Conservative, 65 votes

The Loggerheads ward was won by Andrew Turnock with a majority of 542. The votes cast were:

  • LOVE Jeff, Labour/Co-op, 390 votes
  • TURNOCK Andrew William, Conservative, 932 votes
