New Civic Pride event focuses on Knutton and Cross Heath

A collaborative campaign designed to boost pride and belonging in communities across Newcastle-under-Lyme moves to a new location next week.
Civic Pride – an initiative led by Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council which captures new and existing service provision and calls on residents to get involved – is taking place in Knutton and Cross Heath on Tuesday, 20 May.
The ongoing scheme – delivered in partnership with Aspire Housing, Staffordshire Police and other organisations under a unified #PrideInNUL banner – aims to strengthen the borough’s reputation as a place which is clean, safe and friendly.
The council, working alongside Aspire Housing colleagues, is co-ordinating a litter pick around Knutton between 10am and midday. Everyone is meeting at the Wammy car park. A second group is focusing on sprucing up the playground at Arthur Street from 10.30am.
A drop-in session is available at Ramsey Road Community Centre, from 10am to 2pm, where visitors can get information and advice about a wide range of subjects including community safety, sustainability and reducing energy use.
Residents can speak to Staffordshire Police at the Wammy between 10am and 2pm.
Council Leader Simon Tagg said:
Civic Pride is a long-term programme intending to make a positive difference across Newcastle-under-Lyme by helping to celebrate local identity, foster a deeper sense of belonging and encourage residents to take active roles in improving the quality and spirit of their neighbourhoods.
Since launching late last year, we’ve visited several places and are looking forward to coming to Knutton and Cross Heath next week, with a busy calendar in place for the remainder of the year. Delivering services in a co-ordinated way through closer partnership working means that we are able to make a greater impact on the look and feel of communities for the benefit of people who live there.”
James Fullford, Head of Neighbourhoods at Aspire Housing, added:
We’re really pleased to be working in collaboration with our local partners on the Civic Pride events as part of our commitment to making a positive contribution to our neighbourhoods.
The events have brought everyone together, working in unison to address issues and make our communities feel safer and cleaner for all.
At Aspire Housing we’re making significant investments locally as part of the Knutton Village regeneration, building 75 new homes that are expected in 2026 to support our growing and changing communities.”
The next Civic Pride event takes place in Clayton and the Westlands on 11 June.
