Applications are now being accepted for the second round of a new funding scheme which is supporting residents to enhance neighbourhoods across Newcastle-under-Lyme.

The Civic Pride Investment Fund – created by Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council – invites local organisations and groups to apply for small grants to help them deliver community events and projects.

The pot of money – totalling £22,000 for 2025/26 – complements the council’s successful Civic Pride initiative which sees it co-ordinate days of action in wards across the borough, in collaboration with partners and residents, to strengthen the area’s reputation as a place which is clean, safe and friendly.

Funding can be used to support activities such as planting schemes and improvements to local facilities. Submissions are considered on a quarterly basis by Cabinet, with decisions based on need and impact. They can be submitted via the council’s website where supporting information is available. The latest deadline is Friday, 12 September inclusive.

Council Leader Simon Tagg said:

The council launched the long-term Civic Pride scheme to make a positive difference across the borough – as a legacy of our town’s 850th anniversary celebrations when pride and belonging was at an all-time high – and now it has unveiled the complementary investment fund as part of this year’s budget.

The council wants to hear from more local groups who want to get started on their own Civic Pride projects which will contribute to creating cleaner, safer and friendlier places for everyone. Funding has been allocated to some great projects so far – which will be announced shortly – and we are looking forward to receiving more applications.”

The next #PrideInNUL event takes place in Keele on Wednesday, 24 September followed by Madeley and Betley on Thursday, 25 September.
