Council hosts double Civic Pride edition
Final preparations are underway to deliver a double Civic Pride edition.
Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council is hosting collaborative events in Chesterton and Holditch, followed by Crackley and Red Street, on two consecutive days next week.
It’s the latest instalment of a long-term scheme – delivered under a unified #PrideInNUL banner – which brings together council staff, partners and local residents to help create a cleaner, safer and friendlier borough for everyone.
A variety of activities are taking place in the Chesterton area on Wednesday, 4 March, from 10am to 2pm, and there are different ways residents can get involved. They can join in a litter pick of Chesterton Memorial Park, which starts at 10am, or get information and advice about a wide range of subjects at a community drop-in taking place at the Salvation Army, situated in Brick Kiln Lane.
Meanwhile, council officers are on hand at the park to talk to visitors about recycling and the wider subject of sustainability. The Green Team is working alongside adults with learning disabilities, who are members of Kidsgrove Care Solutions, to paint planters and carry out other tasks to prepare a community allotment for the spring.
Council Leader Simon Tagg said:
It’s great to start 2026 as we mean to go on with a hive of Civic Pride activity.
Our events are a fantastic opportunity for communities to come together and make a positive difference to their local area. By working together, we can help ensure our neighbourhoods remain places that we are all proud to call home. I’d encourage anyone who can spare some time next week to come along and play their part in enhancing Chesterton and Crackley. If they can bring bucket loads of enthusiasm, we can provide the equipment and guidance.”
Joint efforts are focusing on a clean-up of Crackley recreational ground on Thursday, 5 March from 10am.
A community safety drop-in session is also available at the Co-op, on the Waterhayes estate, from 10am to 2pm.
More information about the full Civic Pride programme, and how to get involved, is available on the council’s website.
The next event takes place in Knutton and Cross Heath on Tuesday, 12 May.
