Borough's regeneration and investment opportunities set for national stage
A host of multi-million-pound investment opportunities across Newcastle-under-Lyme will be showcased at a major national conference next week as part of a wider countywide delegation.
UKREiiF (UK’s Real Estate Investment and Infrastructure Forum) takes place in Leeds between 19 and 21 May with more than 16,000 people set to attend. It brings together local and regional public sector organisations with Government, investors, funders, developers, housebuilders and more.
Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council will be promoting exciting developments from town centre redevelopment to business parks and housing developments which will create hundreds of jobs.
Developer Capital&Centric is working with the council to deliver three landmark projects in Newcastle – converting a former shopping centre into Astley Place to create new homes, commercial space, music venue and green space; a homes and aparthotel development at Ryecroft which was formerly occupied by a supermarket and civic centre, and the transformation of the old Midway car park into attractive apartments in the town centre – a scheme called Karparc.
Following the successful completion of Chatterley Park with developer Harworth last year, the site is set to attract occupiers now and could potentially generate 1,700 jobs. The 43-site could bring Gross Value-Added of £67 million per annum and £60 million of private sector investment when fully occupied. It’s at the heart of the Ceramic Valley Enterprise Zone, will meet growing industrial and logistics occupier demand and release the potential of this industrial land close to strategic transport links.
In addition, planned development in the borough includes a site next to J16 of the M6, south of the A500. Its prime strategic location could see the creation of 3,500 jobs, with a further 1,200 in the supply chain. And a key housing development site at Lyme Park near Keele University would see up to 900 homes built.
Simon McEneny, Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council’s deputy chief executive, will be speaking at three events at next week’s forum. He said:
Once again UKREiiF will be giving us a national stage with key industry leaders and decision makers to showcase the exciting development and investment opportunities we have in Newcastle-under-Lyme.
It enables us to have the important conversations with the right people about our ambitions for the borough, and to demonstrate the hard work and progress that has taken place over the last 12 months.
We look forward to joining colleagues as part of the We Are Staffordshire delegation at the forum, which we hope can help to support future investment activity which will ultimately benefit our communities.”
We Are Staffordshire is the place marketing organisation for Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent. It will host stand E22 at the forum.
