£500,000 transformation takes shape at Bradwell Dingle
An exciting £500,000 transformation of Bradwell Dingle is taking shape, bringing modern play, fitness and recreational facilities to the heart of the community.
Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council is delivering a major upgrade of the popular neighbourhood park, replacing outdated equipment and creating a more vibrant, accessible and welcoming green space for residents of all ages.
At the centre of the transformation is a larger, modern and inclusive playground featuring more than 70 individual play elements.
The new equipment will encourage children to climb, slide, swing, jump, balance, crawl, explore and play together, with the designs shaped by feedback from local families and park users.
Work on the first phase is progressing well and also includes:
- New outdoor gym equipment;
- Improved access for wheelchair users;
- Better access for families with pushchairs; and
- Wider improvements to the park’s recreational facilities.
Later stages of the project include landscaping enhancements and the installation of an exciting new pump track.
The scheme is being funded through developer contributions secured by Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council from the nearby Knype Way housing development. The funding is legally ringfenced for investment in local infrastructure and community facilities.
The improvements are expected to be completed by late summer.

This is a fantastic investment in Bradwell and a real cause for celebration for local families.
Bradwell Dingle has been at the heart of the community for many years, but its facilities had become tired and were no longer meeting the needs of residents. We are now delivering the major upgrade that this much-loved park deserves.
Alongside the inclusive play area, the outdoor gym, improved accessibility, landscaping and future pump track will make Bradwell Dingle a more exciting and welcoming destination for the whole community.
This is exactly how developer contributions should be used: securing meaningful investment for the neighbourhoods affected by new development and delivering facilities that local people can see, use and enjoy.

The plans were developed following consultation with residents, local ward councillors and the Friends of Bradwell Dingle, helping to ensure the improvements reflect the priorities and needs of the community.
