Civic Pride comes to Audley
Council teams, volunteers and partner organisations are joining forces to give Audley some extra care and attention.
Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council’s Civic Pride campaign arrives in the village on Wednesday, 26 August, with activities taking place throughout the day alongside Aspire Housing, Staffordshire Police and local residents.
The programme is about bringing people together to create cleaner, safer and better-kept neighbourhoods, with residents helping to identify the issues that matter most in their own communities.
Council teams will work alongside volunteers at the Minnie Pit memorial site, who already give their time to look after this important community space, carrying out end-of-summer maintenance and weeding.
A community litter pick will also take place around the village, while teams will tackle weed hotspots highlighted by residents, including the bus stops by the Boughey Arms and Butchers Arms. The litter pick starts from Audley Library at 10am. Everyone is welcome to get involved and equipment will be provided.
Residents can also speak directly to representatives from the Council, Aspire Housing and Staffordshire Police at a drop-in session at Audley Library from 10am, where they can raise concerns, highlight local problems and ask questions.
Cllr. Andrew Fisher, Cabinet member for Residents’ Services and Neighbourhoods, said:
Civic Pride is about taking pride in the places we call home and working together to look after them.
People in Audley know their community better than anyone. We want to listen to them, tackle the problems they raise and work alongside the fantastic volunteers who already give their time to make the village a better place.
Whether it’s looking after the Minnie Pit memorial, clearing litter, tackling weeds or simply reporting something that needs sorting, everyone can play their part.
These might sound like small things, but clean streets, well-kept public spaces and strong communities matter. When residents, volunteers, the Council and our partners all pull together, we can make a real difference.”
The next Civic Pride event takes place at Keele on Wednesday, 23 September.
