A £500,000 transformation of Bradwell Dingle is giving families a fantastic new place to play, exercise and spend time together, and residents are invited to celebrate the improvements this weekend.

Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council, working with Four One Four Skateparks, is hosting a special community open day on Sunday 18 October, from 11am to 4pm, to mark the official opening of the upgraded park.

The investment has delivered a larger, modern and inclusive playground featuring more than 70 individual play elements, a new pump track, outdoor gym equipment and landscaping improvements. Funded through developer contributions secured from the nearby Knype Way housing development, the project ensures that local communities benefit directly from development taking place in their area.

The improvements are shaped by feedback from local families, residents and park users, including the Friends of Bradwell Dingle, helping to ensure the facilities meet the needs of the people who use them.

The transformation supports the Council’s Building a Better Borough 2026 – 2030 Council Plan, which puts local people first and prioritises cleaner, better-maintained neighbourhoods, stronger communities and visible improvements to everyday public spaces.

Cllr. Ben Simpson, Cabinet member for Waste, Recycling and Green Spaces, said:

This is what investing in our communities should look like: better facilities for children, more opportunities for families and a neighbourhood park that local people can be proud of.

Thanks to £500,000 of investment, families have a fantastic new playground, a pump track and outdoor fitness facilities right on their doorstep. Our focus is on getting the basics right, improving the places residents use every day and restoring pride in our neighbourhoods. We want to see parks that are welcoming, looked after and enjoyed by people of all ages.

I would encourage families to come along on Sunday, bring their bikes, scooters and skateboards, and enjoy everything the new Bradwell Dingle has to offer.”

The open day will feature professional BMX demonstrations on the new pump track, opportunities for visitors to enjoy open riding, and the chance to meet the team responsible for installing the facilities. A master of ceremonies will host the celebrations, with Borough Mayor Christopher Bailey officially opening the new playground.

Shaun Scarfe, Founder of Four One Four Skateparks, added:

We’re really proud to have delivered the new pump track at Bradwell Dingle and to have been part of the wider improvements to the park. It’s been great to see the track already getting so much use, and we’re looking forward to celebrating the official opening on Sunday and seeing riders of all ages enjoying it.”
