Residents and park users are being asked to help shape Clark & Kent's final plans for the new pump track at Lyme Valley Parkway.

Residents are being given the chance to help shape an exciting £135,000 transformation of the existing BMX track at Lyme Valley Parkway.

Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council is working with specialist contractors Clark & Kent to develop plans for a modern pump track which can be enjoyed by cyclists, skateboarders and scooter riders of different ages and abilities. The proposed improvements would replace the existing track with a purpose-built circuit featuring rollers, banked turns and flowing bends, alongside a new seating area for families and spectators.

The investment forms part of the Council’s wider commitment to improving Borough parks, play areas and green spaces, creating places where children and young people can get active, families can spend time together and communities can take pride in their local area.

With the new facility expected to open in spring 2027, residents are now being encouraged to have their say before the final design is agreed.

Two public engagement sessions have been arranged where people can view the proposals, ask questions and speak to representatives from Clark & Kent, who delivered the Council’s pump track at Newchapel Recreation Ground. The sessions will take place:

  • Monday 26 October, 4pm – 6pm: Astley Room, Castle House, Newcastle-under-Lyme.
  • Saturday 14 November, 10am – 12pm: Existing BMX track, Lyme Valley Parkway.

Residents can also view the proposals and submit their feedback through the Council’s website until Friday, 27 November.

Cllr. Andrew Fisher, Cabinet member for Residents’ Services and Neighbourhoods, said:

We want our parks and green spaces to be places that local people are proud of, and that means investing in facilities that families, children and young people actually want to use.

This £135,000 investment is a fantastic opportunity to breathe new life into the existing BMX track at Lyme Valley and create something that will benefit the community for years to come.

But before the final plans are agreed, we want to hear from the people who will be using it. Whether you’re a keen rider, a parent or simply someone who enjoys Lyme Valley, please come along, look at the proposals and tell us what you think.

This is about listening to local people and making sure we get the investment right.”

The proposals follow the official opening of a new pump track at Bradwell Dingle last weekend, delivered as part of a £500,000 transformation funded by developer contributions. That investment has also provided new outdoor gym equipment and a larger, more accessible playground featuring more than 70 play elements.

It builds on the Council’s ongoing programme of improvements to parks and green spaces across the Borough.

Cllr. Ben Simpson, Cabinet member for Waste, Recycling and Green Spaces, added:

We are determined to make our parks and green spaces better for the people who use them, and residents are already seeing the difference that investment can make.

From the improvements at Bradwell Dingle to the plans for Lyme Valley, we are putting money into the facilities that matter to local families and communities.

Good quality parks aren’t just nice to have. They give children somewhere to play, encourage people to be active and help make our Borough a better place to live.

We want to keep delivering these improvements across Newcastle-under-Lyme, and I would encourage everyone with an interest in Lyme Valley to get involved and help shape what comes next.”
