The Conservative Party has won a majority in the Borough Elections

Voters in Newcastle-under-Lyme have returned the Conservative Party to power in the borough - with a majority of 25 wards to 19.
 

Below is a short summary of the result for each ward: 

Audley: 3 seats - Conservative Councillor Ian Wilkes has been returned and newly elected Cllr. Nicholas Crisp joins him. Sue Moffatt has retained the third seat for the Labour Party.

Bradwell: 3 seats - Labour gained a seat in Bradwell, with new councillor Laura Richards joining councillors Andrew Fox-Hewitt and Annabel Lawley who retained their seats.

Clayton: 1 seat - Councillor Stephen Sweeney retained his seat for the Conservative Party.

Crackley and Red Street: 2 seats - Newcomer Cllr. Lilian Barker has taken one of the seats for the Conservatives and Cllr. Joel Edgington-Plunkett, also a newcomer, has taken the other for Labour.

Cross Heath: 2 seats - Councillors Gill and John Williams were both returned for Labour.

Holditch and Chesterton: 2 seats - Labour gained both seats from the Conservatives. Newly elected councillors Sue Beeston and David Grocott will now represent the area.

Keele: 1 seat - Councillor Dave Jones has retained the Keele ward for the Labour and Cooperative Party.

Kidsgrove and Ravenscliffe: 3 seats - The Conservative Party gained a seat from Labour with newly elected councillors Simon Jones and Craig Skelding joining Cllr. Gill Burnett.  

Knutton: 1 seat - Newcomer Councillor Stephanie Talbot has taken the Knutton seat in a gain for the Labour Party.  

Loggerheads: 2 seats - Councillors Paul Northcott and Barry Panter were returned for the Conservatives.

Madeley and Betley: 2 seats - Councillors Gary and Simon White also retained their seats for the Conservative Party.

Maer and Whitmore: 1 seat - Newcomer Cllr. Amy Bryan was elected in Maer and Whitmore for the Conservatives, retaining the seat for the party

May Bank: 3 seats – Newcomer David Hutchison joins returning Conservative Cllrs. Trevor Johnson and John Tagg.

Newchapel and Mow Cop: 2 seats – Cllrs. Jill and Paul Waring held the two seats for the Conservatives.

Silverdale: 2 seats - In Silverdale the Conservatives gained a seat, with newcomer Cllr. Rupert Adcock and Labour retain their seat with new Labour councillor, Jacqueline Bryan.

Talke and Butt Lane: 3 seats – Cllr. Mike Stubbs, Cllr. David Allport and Cllr. Sylvia Dymond all held their seats for the Labour Party.

Thistleberry: 2 seats - Conservatives Robert Bettley-Smith and Joan Whieldon took both seats from the Liberal Democrats.  

Town: 2 seats - Newcomer Wendy Brockie joins returning Cllr. Ruth Wright, to retain the Town ward for Labour.

Westbury Park and Northwood: 2 seats - Conservative councillors Andrew Fear and Andrew Parker were returned. 

Westlands: 3 seats – Cllr. Simon Tagg, Cllr. Mark Holland and Cllr. Gill Heesom were all returned for the Conservative Party.  

Wolstanton: 2 seats - Labour gained Wolstanton from the Conservatives with Richard Gordon and Phil Reece taking both seats in the ward.

Votes in the Parish Council elections, and the Madeley Neighbourhood Planning Referendum, will be counted tomorrow (Saturday, 7 May) and the results will be posted as they come in.
