Track, inspect and comment on a planning application
Publishing and processing comments
By law, all comments received and the names of the persons making the comments must be open to public inspection, as they form part of the statutory register for applications.
We will display the comments on our website, although personal data, such as signatures, email address and telephone numbers will be removed. However, the names of those people who commented on the application are published.
Please note: anonymous comments cannot be taken into consideration.
Your rights
The General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) gives rights to you about how your personal data is obtained and used by us, as 'data controller'. Upon request your representation can be removed from the website once the application has been determined but we will retain your correspondence, as is required as part of the statutory planning register. We may also share information you provide with:
- our other departments
- certain organisations, such as statutory and non-statutory consultees and the Planning Inspectorate
This is because it is required by statute and for the purposes of processing the application and/or appeal.
We therefore process your personal data in the exercise of our official authority and in carrying out a task in the public interest.
If you have any concerns regarding how your data is process and/or retained, please speak with an officer from the development management team initially.
We also have more information about your rights.
