Air quality management

How do we monitor air quality?

Nitrogen dioxide

We monitor nitrogen dioxide through a local network of diffusion tubes, each of which contain a chemical strip.

The strips work by absorbing nitrogen dioxide passively and is analysed to give an approximate average concentration over the deployment period. The diffusion tubes are mostly deployed at roadside locations.

We also have a monitoring station at Queen’s Gardens, which records nitrogen dioxide concentrations in real time.

Other pollutants

We do not monitor any of the other target pollutants.
